Erectile Dysfunction The Possible Causes

Date:

Share post:

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is an illness that restricts sexual activity and results in incontinence. While ED may occur within the intimate space, it should never be kept a secret; some cases of ED could indicate more serious medical issues; it’s therefore essential to discuss any sexual concerns with your healthcare provider.

There are various causes of erectile dysfunction (ED). They involve blood flow, nerve supply and inflammation. Sometimes ED can be caused by a health issue like  injury or any condition which affects the flow of blood to your penis or nerve supply. What could these reasons be?

Other Conditions

Most cases of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) stem from medical causes, such as:

Atherosclerosis is a condition in which your arteries become hardened. Diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and obstructive sleep apnea are all risk factors for this condition.

Prostate Cancer Treatment

Maintaining adequate penis blood flow is essential for men to become erect. Without it, blood vessel damage and Erectile dysfunction (ED) may occur.

The good news about ED is that treating its causes can be beneficial. Talk with your physician about medical treatments available and ways to improve overall health and vascular wellbeing. Lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, losing weight, and avoiding diabetes can reduce the risk of developing heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes – so speak to them about making these changes! For instance, stop smoking cigarettes and increase exercise regularly – these will all have positive results!

Surgery

Prostate cancer and bladder cancer surgeries could potentially result in erectile dysfunction due to nerve damage as well as arteries around the penis. Studies have indicated that surgery may improve ED with oral medications, injections, or vacuum devices; sildenafil, vardenafil, and tadalafil are all oral medicines for treating ED while alprostadil (Caverject) injectable medication also known as alprostadil can be taken orally and vacuum machines remove blood from your penis producing an erection – these methods may suit you best; consult with your physician first!

Medicines

Could ED be due to an error in medication? Potentially. ED has been reported as an adverse effect of eight of the most prescribed drugs and many commonly taken medicines, including:

  • Antidepressants
  • Antihistamines
  • Appetite suppressants.
  • Blood pressure drugs

If you experience erectile dysfunction while taking medications, consult your physician. However, do not abruptly stop taking the medicine – doing so could pose risks. Your physician must determine if there is an issue with the drug and may reduce dosage or switch to one less likely to trigger ED symptoms.

Psychological Factors

Your sexual activity is heavily affected by your mental state. Erectile Dysfunction (ED) often stems from anxiety, stress and depression – so discuss with your doctor any current situations and any mental health worries. Psychotherapists or another mental health professional can work with both of you to reduce anxiety levels and strengthen relationships while teaching stress management techniques. Your physician also has the expertise necessary to direct you towards appropriate treatments for depression if needed.
